EGEE Conferences

regularly attract over 450 experts from an international Grid community. This September Geneva sets the scene for a 5-day invigorating platform for Grid user communities, decision makers, resource providers and developers to discuss how to capitalise on past investments and plan a sustainable future for the Grid. EGEE’06 provides an excellent networking environment to discuss problems, share new ideas and obtain feedback from potential users, partners, developers and affiliates.. Welcome to the key .

Facing many new challenges in the second phase of its work, EGEE’06 will engage an even broader audience than previous EGEE conferences, bringing together stakeholders from IT, industry, science, and funding agencies to explore synergies and share experiences. Geneva-based international organisations will also be present to learn how they can profit from this cutting edge technology.

This year’s EGEE’06 conference introduces an innovative business track allowing the audience an opportunity to understand how Grid may be adopted in their organisation, through practical guidance, past & present case studies and industrial featured projects. A series of topics have been identified where Grid features prominently, namely in: High Performance Computing, Bio-informatics, Finance, Data Management & Security and the Public Administration.

The programme combines strategic presentations within the stimulating mix of plenary and parallel sessions where key representatives will focus on discussions between major research, academic & major industry players exchanging views on issues such as: problem solving environments, considerations on investment & employment opportunities, as well as discussions on improving the time to market & cost of developing new products.

The goals of EGEE’06 are to demonstrate to organisations how they may take advantage of this cutting-edge technology, to promote knowledge sharing between industry, government and the research community, to exchange experiences on the current state-of-the-art Grid computing and support stronger international co-operation developments.

Dynamically run technological demos will be featured and a sponsored prize will be offered to the demo displaying the greatest impact and Return on Investment (RoI).

The conference takes place at the newly-renovated International Congress Centre of Geneva, the CICG, close to the United Nations offices in Geneva.
