EGEE Industry Day, 26 - 27 October 2006, Catania, Italy
Hosted by the and the , the fourth in a series of EGEE Industry Days took place on the 26th and 27th of October 2006 in Catania (Italy) inside the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University (Scientific Campus "La Cittadella Universitaria”, via S. Sofia, 64).
The two day event expertly demonstrated to business, in particular SMEs, the advantages of using a Grid e-Infrastructure and examined the increasing take-up of Grids in business. The event gave an insight into the current Grid demands from end users and the Grid infrastructure solutions available to meet these demands, through user-friendly Grids for commercial use.
The event gave space to private entities interested in seeing where they can benefit from Grid technology and the vast EGEE infrastructure and resources available via the Regional Grid infrastructures.
Besides several SMEs and Consortia of computing operating in the South of Italy, the following companies confirmed their participation: APC, APRILIA/PIAGGIO, DATAMAT/FINMECCANICA, FERRARI, FIAT, IBM, MICROSOFT, NICE, ORACLE, SIEMENS and STAR.
