The Business Track brings together business players and experts from a broad spectrum of sectors to highlght the benefits of Grid for companies of all sizes through a series of case studies and interactive panel discussions. Experts will offer an insight look at the growing interest in Grid adoption by enterprises, evaluating technological and business challenges from the perpective of real-world environments. Participants can learn about EGEE's benefit for Business and gLite, the project's next generation Open Source Grid middleware, through a set of case studies and pilot applications. EGEE’s Drug Discovery programme, WISDOM, will also be giving insight into its successful deployment against neglected diseases.
Hosted by the project’s Industry Forum, the Business Track looks at current developments, issues and challenges facing diverse industry groups, from Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare, to Design & Product Development, Energy, Finance, Digital Media and Telecommunications.
Key takeaways include first-hand market & Grid information; networking for new contacts, partnerships and business ventures; maintaining industry visibility. Significant immediate outcomes will be a consensus on best practices, the role of standards, and setting valuable links between EGEE, businesses and industry-focused projects in the drive towards more pervasive Grid adoption.
Presentations will be made by the European Commission, EGEE’s Business Associates: GridwiseTech, NICE, and Platform, and EGEE’07 sponsors: Oracle, HP, and Microsoft. Talks will be given by the Networked European Software and Services Initiative (NESSI) and the SIMDAT project, represented by BAE Systems, NEC Labs Europe, & IT Innovation, the BEinGRID project, represented by ATOS Origin, as well as by Avanade, Excelian, Mathworks, Qi3 and Total UK.
