The Computing Centre of the University of Groningen, belonging to the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen (RUG), is an independent institute within the university structure, with over 100 staff and a turnover of 10MEuro. It is responsible for a.o. the campus network, High Performance Computing,
visualisation and a 3.8 Tflps Blue Gene Supercomputer and Mass Storage. The Centre has always put much effort in user and application support as part of their mission. This role is also visible in the participation of the Joint LOFAR (Low Frequency Array, radio-astronomy) Operation Centre
