Description:
UiB is the main Contracting Party. Unifob AS (Ltd.) is a non-commercial and non-profit research organisation owned (85%) by UiB. In accordance with the EU-FP6 rules for participation, UiB and Unifob AS participate as a "Joint Research Unit" (on Additional Cost). The University of Bergen receives funding on behalf of Unifob from the European Union, the Research Council of Norway, and from various national and international research and industrial organizations. The Bergen Centre for Computational Science (BCCS) is a department at Unifob. BCCS operates the HPC facilities of UiB and includes research groups on bio-informatics, computational mathematics,
computational physics, and scientific computing. A main objective of BCCS is to exploit the synergies between its groups and boost cross-disciplinary activity. BCCS operates in close cooperation with the Department of Informatics and Department of Mathematics of the university. UiB and UNIFOB/BCCS has together been partner in various national, Nordic, and European Grid projects since the year 2000. In EGEE, the activity focused on middleware security.
